Color Test for Kids

Same idea, no numbers. Your child taps the shape they see hiding in the dots — a circle, square, triangle, or heart.

8 plates · shapes instead of numbers · a screening game, not a diagnosis.

Look at each circle of dots and tap the shape you see hiding inside. Ready?

Some circles won't have a shape for most people — tapping “I can't see a shape” is a perfectly good answer, not a mistake.

Best on a phone or laptop at full screen brightness. Keyboard: press a number key, or Enter if you can't see one.

For parents

Color vision deficiency is inherited and present from birth, so children often don't realize they see color differently — they simply learn the "wrong" names for some colors. Early screening can help at school, where color-coded materials are common.

  • Sit with your child and let them point or tap — no pressure, no timer race.
  • If they consistently miss the shapes but get the easy control plates, it's worth mentioning to your pediatrician or an optometrist.
  • This is a friendly first check, not a clinical exam.
Young children may just be learning their shapes. A miss here isn't proof of anything — it's a nudge to ask a professional if you're unsure.
