Color Vision Test is a free, no-sign-up screening tool for color vision deficiency. It's built to be fast, private, and honest about its limits.

How the plates are made

Every plate is generated by code as a mosaic of hundreds of colored dots. A hidden number (or shape, for kids) is drawn by coloring some dots from one side of a color "confusion line" and the rest from the other side, matched in brightness. If your eyes can separate those colors, you read the number; if not, it blends in.

We deliberately do not use scanned Ishihara plates. Ours are procedurally generated, which keeps them free to use, endlessly varied, and impossible to memorize.

What it can and can't do

• Can: give you a quick, private sense of whether you may have a red-green or blue-yellow color vision deficiency, and roughly how strong it is.
• Can't: replace a clinical exam. Screen calibration, lighting, and display type all affect the colors, so results are an indication — not a diagnosis.
